Empty Bottles - June 2015

June went by fast! With only one day left I will try to be prompt and share with you my June's empties.

1. Pai Chamomile and Rosehip Calming Day Cream. Well, I can tell you that this is the best face cream I have tried and used so far. It is such a treat for a skin (natural formula, gentle scent, just right texture - creamy, but not overly rich, moisturising, calming), and amazingly I can't tell you anything bad. I loved it fully and totally until the last drop.

Here is the ingredient list for you to have a look:

Aqua - Purified Water, Prunus Armeniaca Kernel Oil* - Apricot Kernel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil* - Jojoba Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius Seed Oil* - Thistle Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol - Coconut-derived Emulsifier, Glycerin* - Vegetable Glycerine, Rosa Canina Seed Extract* - Rosehip Seed Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter* - Shea Butter, Cetearyl Glucoside - Corn-derived Emulsifier, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract* -Chamomile Extract, Leptospermum Scoparium Leaf Oil - Manuka Oil, Sodium Levulinate - Non-Irritating Preservative Derived From Corn, Tocopherol - Natural Vitamin E, Lavandula Angustifolia Oil* - Lavender Oil, Sodium Anisate - Non-Irritating Preservative Derived From Basil, Pelargonium Graveolens Oil* - Rose Geranium Oil, Lactic Acid - pH Stabiliser Derived From Sugar Beet, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate -from sustainable Palm Oil, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate - from Coconut Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract* - Rosemary Extract.

I will give Pai Chamomile and Rosehip Calming Day Cream 5 stars out of 5. I think it is a luxurious, natural cream for the skin.

2. SkinPEP Collagen Renew - Growth Factor Night Cream. Another sample from SkinPEP was sent to me to try. But same as one I used last month it is too small to review and rate. I used it as a skin pack and over all happy, but can't truly describe the product due to such limited use.

Here is the ingredient list for you to have a look:

Aqua, Sh-Oligopeptide-1 (Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), Sh-Polypeptide-1 (Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF), Sh-Polypeptide-5 (Transforming Growth Factor (TGF), Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-3 (Matrixyl), Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 (Argireline) Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Ascorbic Acid, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Niacinamide, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Avena Sativa (Oat), Kernel Extract, Red Ginseng Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Panthenol, Ubiquinone (CO-Q10), Resveratrol, Algae Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Adenosine, Retinyl Palmitate, Ferulic Acid, Allantoin, Padina Pavonica Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Glycine Max (Soybean) Seed Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Lecithin, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil. Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Geranium Maculatum Oil, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Oil, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Laminaria Ochroleuca Extract, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Stearic Acid, Laureth-7, Phenoxyethanol, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Laureth-23, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Chlorphenesin VP/Eicosene Copolymer, Sodium Chloride, Disodium EDTA, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Ethylhexylglycerin, Dimethicone, PEG-240/HDI Copolymer Bis-Decyltetradeceth-20 Ether, Butylene Glycol, Cyclopentasiloxane, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil.

According to SkinPEP this is a very hydrating and high quality night cream and is unlike other night creams. It is loaded with skin conditioning agents, antioxidants and Growth factors. This cream supports collagen and elastin in skin cells to reduce fine line and wrinkles while you sleep.

3. Lavera Eyeshadow Base. Along with my eye pencil these two are my favourite cosmetics from Lavera so far. At the moment I am not so convinced that natural cosmetics can actually blend and look well on me, but I think this eyeshadow base is worth checking out. It has light texture, easy to apply and it sets fast allowing you to apply the rest of your eye make-up.

Here is the ingredient list:

Water (Aqua), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Alcohol*, Glycerin, Lauroyl Lysine, Dehydroxanthan Gum, Fragrance (Parfum)**, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract*, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter*, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Rosa Centifolia Flower Extract*, Tilia Cordata Flower Extract*, Malva Sylvestris (Mallow) Flower Extract*, Cichorium Intybus (Chicory) Root Extract, Xylitylglucoside, Anhydroxylitol, Xylitol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Camelina Sativa Seed Oil, Vegetable Oil (Olus Oil), Algae, Magnesium Gluconate, Maltose, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Tin Oxide (CI 77861), Ascorbyl Palmitate, Limonene**, Benzyl Salicylate**, Linalool**, Geraniol**, Citral**, Citronellol**, Benzyl Alcohol**

I will give Lavera Eyeshadow Base 5 stars out of 5, because it is not just a natural cosmetic item, but actually it does the job well. Perfect beauty product to get if you are starting with a natural make-up.

4. Herbal Essences Shampoo Bee Strong. I bought this shampoo for its scent and I can tell you I had a good time with it. It did the job right and left my hair smelling lovely for few days. Just another simple shampoo to get if you fancy to try something new.

I will give Herbal Essences Bee Strong shampoo 3 stars out of 5.

5. Lacoste Pour Femme Eau de Parfum 50ml. This is one of my favourite fragrances for colder months, but it lasted me for a little bit longer this year. Lacoste Pour Femme Eau de Parfum is a woody musky fragrance, it belongs to a floral type of perfume.

Fragrance notes:
Top Notes: Jamaican pepper, Purple freesia
Heart Notes: White heliotrope flower, Iranian jasmine, Hibiscus flower, Bulgarian rose, Ambrette seed
Base Notes: Himalayan cedarwood, Sandalwood

Perfume is so personal item, I won't be able to rate it for you in a way I rate other beauty product. For me personally it has a sexy scent, but not to overpowering like most of musky fragrances. It lasts as a perfume should as well.

I find it hard to find a perfume I like, so I have only few favourite and Lacoste Pour Femme Eau de Parfum is one of them. Will buy it again and again I am sure.

Do you have anything exciting to share this month?

June Beauty Haul: Amie, Aussie, YARDLEY London, Nivea and Dove

Another busy and exciting month is about to end and before it does I wanted to share with you some beauty products I have bought. My concious spending approach still in motion, so all products are replacements for the used ones.

1. I have enjoyed Amie's Morning Clear wash, so this month I went for Amie Morning Dew Matte Finish Moisturiser and Amie Spring Clean Deep Cleansing Mask. Morning Dew is a very light moisturiser perfect for summer time or all year around if you have an oily skin; contains vitamin E, organic Rosehip and Bilberry, lemon fruit extract and orange blossom. I am using it for a week now and surprised how lovely it is. Mind you it is a very affordable natural cream! Spring Clean mask is a refreshing, deep cleansing treatment. It has a cooling effect, contains organic peppermint, white clay and lime butter.

2. Aussie Beach Mate Conditioner. I kept my eyes on Aussie's hair care for some time and I am glad finally I treated myself to a Beach Mate conditioner. I think it is perfect for hot sunny, summer days.

3. As you know I have a soft spot for a nice soap and this month I bought two: YARDLEY London Shea Buttermilk, because I think it is delightful (click here for a full review) and Nivea Creme Soft, because I used to love it in my "preblogging" days. Both soaps got gentle and creamy formulas and light scents.

4. The last, but not the least - Dove Go Fresh roll-on. I used it before and I can tell you it is a simple roll-on with a fresh scent which does the job.

Have you tried any from above?

My Hair Care Routine - Summer 2015 Update

Summer is here and I have noticed some changes in my hair care routine. I thought to share them with you and do let me know what have you changed in your hair care routine (if anything) this summer?!

My hair care routine - summer update

Major change in my hair care routine happened with shampoo. Since I had such a bad experience with a natural shampoo, I used to buy just any without consideration of price or a brand. Well, why to pay a lot if the ingredient list more or less the same?

But I have made a decision last month to give it a go to a professional shampoo and I can tell you there is no way back for me. As you know from my May's Beauty Haul I bought Redken Extreme shampoo. After few weeks of use, I can see actually difference and I like it. Ever since I gave birth to my son I am not so sure about my hair. I am getting my confidence back now. Read here about my post pregnancy hair recovery story.

Back to the shampoo. It isn't a natural one, but doesn't got the mineral oil and overall the ingredient list is "ok". I didn't really looked for a natural shampoo, but since I know the ingredients to avoid, it became a habit to read the small print.

I wash my hair on every third day once or twice if my hair got oil or the overnight mask and use a conditioner after. I would like to try a professional conditioner later on, but at the moment I am using a Aussie Beach Mate conditioner. Always wanted to try Aussie's hair care range and this one is just perfect for hot summer weather. I will review it for you as usual in one of my empty bottles' posts. I apply conditioner only on hair ends and leave as long as I can in a shower.

Another change in my hair care routine this summer - I apply hair oil or hair treatment now only once in two weeks. I used to do it once a week, but I have noticed my hair started to get greasy on the second day. I find it is enough for my hair to get a treatment once in two weeks, but as before I tend to leave it over the night for a deep conditioning. I am using my own Hair Oil Mix with Shea Butter and/or Dabur Vatika Night Repair Cream.

I like to give my head a massage and apply hair oil mix on all my hair and the night repair cream onto hair ends. After this treat my hair next day are soft, silky and just like I want them to be.

I have prepared my own hair serum and apply it after each wash on the wet hair ends and a little bit after using a hair dryer. I will share a recipe with you later on, when I will make a new bottle. But if you would like it sooner, leave a request in the comments below.

I have noticed as well, that I am using more often TRESemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic. It has more light, soothing and cooling effect onto the scalp and I have been enjoying it more than usual in recent weeks. I just apply it the night before I wash my hair and gently massage it into the scalp.

I have Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo, but I don't remember when I have used it last time. I don't think I will buy another one in the future. I prefer to find time to wash my hair and leave them open. What is your opinion on a dry shampoo, do they save your day or just take space in your bathroom cabinet?

My hair care tools are almost the same as I shared with you in my previous hair care routine, with exception I got new small porcupine brush from Kent. I am actually so happy with it and am considering to get a bigger version for my dressing table.

What is your hair routine this summer?

My Beauty Discovery - June 2015

I wanted to share with this tiny, but so clever thing I have in my bathroom cabinet. My aunty gave it to me many years ago and until recently I took it for granted.

But today I wanted to give it as much attention as it deserves. This is little Squeezer from Amway. Originally it meant to be used to squeeze a toothpaste, but I am using it for all sorts of beauty tubes in my house. Amazingly clever and makes your beauty products last that extra bit. You will be surprised how much is left in the tube when you can't squeeze it out in a designed way.

My tiny squeezer in action here. As you see simple, but so clever!

Have you tried Amway squeezer before? Do contact me if you want to buy this or any other products from Amway. I know a representative in Latvia and India and they will be happy to assist and advice you with the purchase. Just email me and I will pass your request to them - marijasworld@gmail.com

My Essential Oils - Update

I have one new essential oil to add into my collection and I thought to update you with the rest as well. I have used up two essential oils in the past few months for my small DIY beauty projects and I can review them for you on a more personal level.

First things - first. I have bought Geranium Pure Essential oil

It has a floral scent and plenty of beauty benefits. Geranium essential oil has a soothing properties that will calm skin inflammation; anti-inflammatory (will help to heal skin rushes, eczema and rosacea). Geranium essential oil hydrates skin and provides UV protection (this oil is rich in antioxidants, so it will boost skin's natural ability to fight off free radicals and harmful UV rays). Geranium is one of essential oils which promote healthy hair growth. If Rosemary essential oil stimulates the roots and increases circulation in the scalp, Geranium essential oil strengthens the hair.

I am making my own beauty products for more than two years now and I got my essential oil favourites.

I can say that Lavender essential oil is a must have for me. I use it in so many ways: few drops in my son's bath (he doesn't like bubble baths and this oil has been great for his skin), direct application in minor burns - relieves pain and helps to heal; hair - few drops directly on the ends or mixed with carrier oils; face - again or directly on blemishes or mixed with a carrier oil. I believe there are plenty more ways to use Lavender essential oil, do share with me yours?!

You can read more beauty properties of Lavender essential oil and others from my previous post in here

Another two essential oils I will buy again when they will finish are - Ylang Ylang and Blended Vanilla. They both got a beautiful scent and they do good to the skin and hair, plus Vanilla essential oil has anti-ageing properties.

Tea Tree essential oil is great for its antibacterial properties and I use it to prolong shelf life of my DIY beauty. If you have oily or problem skin, this oil can help with acne and with skin healing.

I use Rosemary essential oil for my hair and in home made face masks. Another multi-use oil to have at home.

I have finished Lemon Eucalyptus essential oil. It is refreshing and was great with my son's colds and coughs. Just few drops in to the bath and/or mixed with a bit of olive oil on the chest and back helped him to relieve stuffed nose and coughs. Myself I liked it in my lip balms and body oils. I would like to buy a Lemon or Orange essential oil for myself and just Eucalyptus to use for cold healing at home.

What is/are your must have essential oil/s?

May Beaty Haul: YARDLEY London, Korres, Organic Surge and REDKEN

Just posted my empties for May and thought to catch up as well with my May beauty haul. I can see that I jumped into new area of beauty world and got some brands I never tried before. Excited to use them and to review them for you later.

1. REDKEN Extreme. This brand was in my mind for some time now, I mentioned one of the products in my 2015 beauty wish listThis is a hair strengthening shampoo, perfect for damaged, dull hair and split ends. I heard that professional shampoos are more gentle to the hair and scalp. Will keep you posted with results.

2. Organic Surge Orange Flower Toner. This gentle natural toner has healing, anti ageing and regenerating properties. It is a blend of orange flower water, Aloe Vera and Centrella Asiatica extract. I plant to use it as well as a skin refresher in the summer. I want to mix 20ml of mineral water and 20ml of toner with a few drops of Geranium essential oil. Mix will go into a small spray bottle and will live in the fridge to be used when needed.

3. Korres Basil Lemon Body Milk. This body milk is such a treat: delicious scent, brilliant ingredient list and soft, milky texture. My skin just drinks it up! Korres Basil Lemon Body Milk contains a combination of Almond oil, active Aloe, provitamin B5 and Shea butter.

4. YARDLEY London Shea Buttermilk Soap. You can find a full review in my May's empties, another great beauty discovery.

Do you like to change your beauty products or do you prefer to use something you already have tried and know?

Empty Bottles - May 2015

Well, June is here and I am overdue with my empty bottles' post for the May. Promise to catch up with posting as soon as all my DIY and decorating are over and I hope this month will be the last busy month with that.

Anyway I wanted to share with you what I have used up in May. Amazingly I have a small box full of empty bottles and some samples to go through with you.

1. Vatika Naturals Egg Protein Deep Conditioning Hair Mask. A really big tub with a hair mask, took me sometime to finish it. I got it along with other Vatika Naturals hair products from Ideal Home Show last year Christmas SpecialI think I just got tired of it in the end, but in the beginning my hair really enjoyed this light nourishing hair mask. It has many natural ingredients, enriched with egg and honey extracts. I would say it is quite close to the natural hair conditioner I used before. It made my hair soft and silky, but it made them static too.

Here is the ingredient list:

Aqua, Centrimonium Chloride, Cetearyl Alcohol, Myristyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Parfum, Honey Extract, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Marrow Extract, Egg Powder, Olea Europea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Magnesium Chloride, Magnesium Nitrate, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Citric Acid, CI 19140, CI 42080, CI 28440, CI 73015, CI 16255, CI 14720

I will give Vatika Naturals Egg Protein Conditioning Hair Mask 3 stars out of 5. It wasn't enough conditioning for my hair and resulted in unpleasant hair static. But if you don't mind that part, this hair mask worth checking out.

2. Kueshi Revitalizing Face Toner. This toner is good! It smells lovely, made my skin calm and refreshed. Kueshi Revitalizing face toner contains a soothing blend of calendula, chamomile and aloe vera. I got it from the January Glossybox and I think it was one of best items I have received from them by far.

Here is the full ingredient list for you to have a look:

Aqua, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Glycerin, Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Hydroxethycellulose, DMDM Hydantoin, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ethoxydiglycol, Propyleneglycol, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Parfum, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Geraniol, Linalool, d-Limonene, CI45100.

I will give Kueshi Revitalizing Face Toner 4 stars out of 5. One point less due to the ingredient list, but this beauty product works and does what is promises on the bottle.

3. SkinPEP Hydra Sun Defence SPF 30 Day Cream. As I mentioned in my new challenge I finished all my sun skin protection samples and this one was the last one. I received it in a small bundle of samples from SkinPEP and I think it is a good day cream with SPF to try. This cream has a light consistency and contains mineral based sunscreens which blends with the skin tone without leaving a white residue. Unlike other sunscreens this cream is moisturising and contains anti oxidants (Grape Seed Extract and Green Tea extract), vitamin E and Ferulic Acid.

As I mentioned before SkinPEP skincare made without alcohol, perfume and parabens and they are hypo-allergenic.

Here is the ingredient list to have a look:

Aqua, Zinc Oxide (6.5%), Titanium Dioxide (5%), Glycerin, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Arbutin, Ferulic Acid, Adenosine, Iron Oxide, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Sorbitan Olivate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Dimethicone/Methicone Copolymer, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Stearic acid, Sodium Chloride, Quaternium-18 Hectorite, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Aluminum Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol.

I will give SkinPEP Hydra Sun Defence SPF 30 Day Cream 5 stars out of 5, because it is not just SPF, but also a good moisturiser to use during the day. All samples I tried from SkinPEP along with this one never irritated my skin and never caused a break out.

4. SkinPEP Peptide Renew - Peptide Repair Day Cream. Another sample from SkinPEP I have finished in May. I can't really say much about it, because it was a small sample and I just used it once as a face mask. I liked the consistency, same as other product by SkinPEP it is light and quickly absorbs into the skin. I won't give this sample any stars, but it is worth to check this cream out.

5. Crabtree & Evelyn Avocado, Olive & Basil Body Lotion. Well, it was worth to lose my One Month no Beauty Shopping Challenge to. I bought two of them for £20 and they lasted me that long. This body lotion has the most moisturising formula than others I saw in the store on the day. It contains olive oil, shea butter, avocado butter and formulated without colours, parabens, phthalates, mineral oil and propylene glycol.

I don't have the outer box any more and it seems impossible to find a full list of ingredient online.

I will give Crabtree & Evelyn Avocado, Olive & Basil Body Lotion 5 stars out of 5. Beautifully presented and a lovely fresh scent and does the job so well. I will watch out for offers to buy it again.

6. Ayurvedic NaturoRiche Skin Life Turmeric Cream. Turmeric cream always will be my must have to keep skin balanced and healthy.

Here is the ingredient list for you to have a look:

Aqua, Stearic Acid, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera), Ocimum Sanctum (Tulsi), Rubia Cordifolia (Manjishta), Berberis Species (Daru Haldi), Curcuma Longa Extract (Haldi),Turmeric Oil, Parfum, Glycerine (Glycerol), Cetyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Myristate, Niacinamide, Titanium Dioxide, Dimethicone (Silicone Oil), Capric-Caprylic Tri Glyceride, Octyl Methoxy Myristate, Colour - Tartazine Yellow (Ci No.19140), Sunset Yellow FCF (Ci No. 15985).

I will give Ayurvedic NaturoRiche Skin Life Turmeric cream 5 stars out of 5. Some amazing ingredient in there and it is just made for my skin type (normal to combination).

7. YARDLEY London Shea Buttermilk soap. This is a lovely scented, creamy soap with delicate chamomile and buttermilk. It lasted me for a month, you will see it in my May beauty haul post and I am going to get another one to enjoy for longer. I like how is lathers and it feels so soft and gentle on the skin. I will give YARDLEY London Shea Buttermilk soap 5 stars out of 5

Here is the ingredient list:

Sodium Tallowate, Water (Aqua), Sodium Cocoate, Glycerin, Fragrance (Parfum), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Buttermilk Powder, Chamomile Extract, Sodium Chloride, Titanium Dioxide (A naturally occurring mineral), Tetrasodium EDTA

8. Face Oasis H2O+ Hydrating Treatment. Another sample I got from the Glossybox, I used it as a face mask and am very pleased with it hydrating properties. This treatment is in gel form and can be used as a moisturiser or a face pack.

I will give Face Oasis H2O+ Hydrating Treatment  3 stars out of 5.  My skin didn't like it as a day moisturiser, but I enjoyed it as a skin treatment. This gel is light, oil free and has hydrating properties due to extracts and other ingredients. Other down side is the ingredient list, full off things you should to try to avoid.

Here is the ingredient list:

Aqua/Water/Eau, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Glycereth-7, Dimethicone, Glycosaminoglycans, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Phospholipids, Panthenol, Parfum/Fragrance, Zinc PCA, Tocopherol, Sodium Metabisulfite, Potassium Sorbate, Benzophenone-4, Tetrasodium EDTA, Maris Sal/Sea Salt/Sel marin, Magnesium Nitrate, Disodium EDTA, Crithmum Maritimum Extract, Fucus Vesiculosus Extract, Undaria Pinnatifida Extract, Ulva Lactuca Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Magnesium Chloride, Retinyl Palmitate, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Diazolidinyl Urea, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Linalool, CI 42090/Blue 1
