Bircbox September 2020: MCoBeauty, The Beauty Crop, This Works, Philip Kingsley, Nuxe and Estee Lauder

Haven't done this type of post for a while. I have subscribed to Birchbox and Glossybox to receive my monthly beauty treats and my Birchbox has arrived today.

Birchbox this month is all about friendship and full of delightful beauty treats.

My favourites this month would be Nuxe Organic Skin Correcting Moisturising Fluid and Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Lychee & Rose.

Nuxe launched Organic Range fairy recently, this organic moisturising fluid with a Marine Seaweed extract optimises hydration of normal to combination skin. It corrects skin imperfections such as redness, blemishes, and textural irregularities. The natural-origin hyaluronic acid moisturises, while the light texture leaves skin mattified, perfecting pores day-by-day. Such a promising moisturiser to try, looking forward to adding it to my skincare routine.

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Lychee & Rose. I love Philip Kingsley haircare products! This award-winning pre-shampoo treatment which works with all hair types adds elasticity, manageability, hydration and shine whilst reducing breakage.

This is a limited edition Elasticizer and has been created with a blend of Rose and Lychee to balance, calm, and relax; creating the ultimate sense of wellbeing and comfort.

Other treats to try and enjoy: MCoBeauty Peachy Gloss Hydrating Lip Oil in Peachy Babe shade. It has the yummiest and refreshing scent! This smooth and silky gloss formulated with natural fruit oils to keep lips soft and hydrated while packing a peachy punch of colour.

The Beauty Crop BFF Brow Mascara Grow & Groom Brow Gel. This cruelty-free brow gel formulated with Castor oil and Vitamin E to encourage growth, nourishment and conditioning.

This Works Stress Check Breath In. 100% natural, cruelty-free rollerball to take with you anywhere. It is formulated with Eucalyptus to invigorate, Frankincense to relax and Lavender to help relieve tension. Just perfect!

Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme+ Global Anti-Aging Cell Power Creme. This cream formulated with moringa extract which encourages the skin's own power to amplify collagen and improve elasticity for a youthful glow. Moringa extract holds building clocks of life - calcium, potassium, Vitamin C, amino acids and Omega 3. According to Estee Lauder this is one of the most powerful anti-ageing ingredients they have ever discovered. The cream can be used both morning and night for a firm and radiant skin.

Birchbox did extremely well this month with the selection of beauty treats. I can see my September peachy delicious, relaxed and beautiful as it should be.

Have you tried any from above? What was your Birchbox's favourite this month?

Beauty haul: La Roche-Posay, Sukin, John Frieda and BarryM

Hope you all are keeping well and safe. I had a little splash on my favourite beauty brands and though to catch up and share as it has been a while for me to write a blog post. I am and my family are well, but this has been a very busy and usual year. Beauty is a safe and uplifting topic to return to.

John Frieda added new lines: Hydrate & Recharge and Weightless Wonder. I am a fun of Strengthen & Restore line for a while now and tend to return to it after trying new hair products. Thought to explore a little bit of John Frieda range and see if I can find a new favourite I can come back to.

The John Frieda Hydrate & Recharge collection according to John Frieda website quenches thirsty, lifeless hair with a surge of powerful moisture. It is infused with nutrient-rich drops containing Monoi oil and Keratin. Hydrate & Recharge collection acts as a moisture reservoir, helping to keep dry hair hydrated from within. It will transform dry, dehydrated strands into silky hair that moves with you.

A lovely promise from John Frieda. I am excited to test it on my hair. The bottle feels comfortable in my hand, a different design to the rest John Frieda shampoos and conditioners. Hydrate & Recharge shampoo has a sweet scent. Can't wait to try it out.

Ever since my firstborn, I have fine hair and multiple flyaways. I am hoping Weightless Wonder by John Frieda will tame my flyaways and smooth my fine hair into something manageable and silky.

According to John Frieda, Weightless Wonder shampoo is infused with Aloe water for gentle, yet nourishing and balanced cleanse. I love the light and refreshing scent of this shampoo more than the Hydrate & Recharge. Let's see which one my hair will prefer better.

I am ever on the lookout for a perfect eye cream and this time settled on La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Eye Contour. This is a non-oily instantly absorbing eye cream specifically designed to hydrate and soothe irritated or dry skin around the eyes. Like the packaging - little pump and a very generous 20ml of eye cream. Promise to review once eye cream is tried and tested for a while.

According to La Roche-Posay this eye cream is enriched with Neurosensine, Niacinamide and Thermal Spring Water to instantly soothe irritated skin.

Have been a loyal fan of Sukin skincare for a long time now. I like the brand, philosophy behind and general affordability of beauty products they offer. This time I bought Sukin Rosehip Hydrating day and night creams and Sukin Super Greens Facial Recovery Serum. I am sure they will add nicely to my facial skincare routine this summer end/autumn.

Sukin Rosehip Hydrating Day Cream is infused with Pomegranate to help relieve dehydrated skin and prevent the signs of premature ageing. With Kakadu Plum, naturally rich in Vitamin C, Sukin Rosehip Hydrating day cream encourages skin radiance, while a generous blend of active botanicals will improve the texture of the skin and leaves skin feeling smooth and hydrated.

According to Sukin, this cream can also be used as a lightweight evening moisturiser. It is suitable for all skin types especially dry.

A very generous jar of 120ml of natural, cruelty-free, vegan and carbon neutral cream.

Sukin Rosehip Hydrating Night Cream is nourishing and enriching, infused with Rosehip Oil, Vitamin C, and rich Kakadu Plum to provide both short and long-term hydration and skin radiance to dehydrated and mature skin types.

According to Sukin, this cream is made with Australian Indigenous fruit Quandong (also known as a native peach) rich in essential fatty acids and Camellia to revitalise dehydrated and distressed skin, leaving you feeling rejuvenated and radiant each morning.

Sukin Super Greens Recovery Serum is hydrating, nutrient-filled daily facial recovery serum which has super green extracts of Kale, Spirulina and Parsley. According to Sukin, Super Greens Recovery Serum assists in the maintenance of a radiant, even skin tone. A special antioxidant-rich blend of Acai and Goji Berry Extracts and Grape Seed Oil promoted youthful-looking skin and light hydration before moisturising.

I like this serum's key ingredients: Super Greens blend, Cocoa Butter, Grape Seed, Avocado and Carrot Seed. Amazing combination of antioxidant for a little bottle. Got high expectation for this one.

The last, but definitely not the least - BarryM Gelly on Shine nail paints in Ginger (947) and Blue Jade (951), plus Avocado Nail Shot Cuticle Oil. Beautiful shades for both hands and toes and I like that BarryM nail paints tend to stay on my nails for a few days.

BarryM Avocado Nail Shot Cuticle Oil hydrates and nourishes with this colourful oil filled with glycerin, avocado and sweet almond oils topped with a refreshing mint fragrance.

Two tone shortbread cookies recipe - egg free

This is a foolproof two-tone shortbread cookies recipe and won't require any kitchen high tech gadgets. I am not a well-experienced baker but these cookies always come out right and disappear in a flash. You can play with a recipe and use dairy-free butter to make cookies vegan or adjust the amount of sugar to your preference.

To make cookies you will need:

- 250g butter (softened)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- 110g caster sugar
- 360g plain flour
- 15g cocoa powder

Preheat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas 5.

Leave butter outside for 15-20 minutes to soften up and once it is soft, mix it with caster sugar until smooth. Next, stir in the flour and knead until you get an even smooth dough.

Divide your dough into two parts. Add vanilla extract to one part of the divided dough and knead until fully incorporated and mixed. Add cocoa powder to the second part and knead well until mixed and dough has an even colour to it.

Divide again both flavour doughs into two equal parts: one we will use to make swirly shortbread and another for squares.

To make swirly shortbread. Take one part of vanilla and one part of the cocoa dough. Roll out until they are 1cm/ 1/2in thick each. Then place the cocoa rolled out dough on top of the vanilla and gently roll them together to make a scroll. Wrap in clingfilm and leave in the fridge for 20 minutes to set.

To make two-tone shortbread squares. Take the remaining vanilla and cocoa dough and divide each into two parts. You should have four equal dough parts. Shape each into a rectangle and arrange them into a check pattern. Wrap in clingfilm and leave in the fridge for 20 minutes to set.

Once set, cut into rounds/squares 1cm/ 1/2in thick and place onto a baking tray.

Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until pale golden-brown. Set aside to cool on a wire rack and enjoy.

Happy baking,
Marija

Empty bottles - Human + Kind, Sukin, Nuxe, Estee Lauder, Beauty Papier, 3INA and Amore Puro

I have a fair amount of empties to review and share. A mixture of brands for face mostly. Face became my main concern with first lines and such and it shows in my beauty shopping.

1. Human + Kind Shower Mousse Bodywash Coconut Dream. This is a natural, vegan, and cruelty-free body wash with a sweet, tropical scent and fluffy foam. Formulated with coconut oil extracts nourishes dry skin, and suitable for sensitive skin. Very convenient to have instant fluff of lather and my skin enjoyed it immensely.

2. Sukin Original Hydrating Mist Toner.  I like Sukin's skin care products, they are made with natural ingredients, affordable, yet effective, and caring. This is an alcohol-free toner, formulated with Chamomile and Rosewater to help soothe, purify and cool tired skin. The scent could disagree with some, it is herbal and on a stronger side. I love the feel of the mist toner on my skin and the overall effect.

The ingredient list is nicely short, so if you are minimalist in your skincare and would like a simple, natural, yet effective toner, Sukin Original Hydrating Mist Toner would be definitely a good choice.

Water (Aqua), Rosa Damascena Flower Water (Rose), Glycerin, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract (Chamomile), Citric Acid, and Phenoxyethanol.

This mist toner can be used after cleansing, before and after makeup application, or any time your skin is feeling tired, stressed or overheated. Suitable for all skin types.

3. Nuxe Paris Insta-Masque. I loved this clay mask. This purifying mask formulated with Rose floral water and white clay to very gently purify the skin. One of three instant Nuxe masks, it works just in 2 minutes, so you can treat and look after your skin even on an extremely busy schedule.

This mask worked well with my sensitive skin, didn't give a sensation of tightness and redness I usually get with clay masks.

I am searching for an effective serum or face oil and have finished both: Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex || and 3INA Cosmetics The Oil Drops Energy.

4. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex ||. This a powerful serum for radiant and hydrated skin, formulated with Hyaluronic Acid to lock-in moisture. I have mixed feelings and impressions and might just need a full-sized bottle to fully appreciate it. This serum has a very light, runny texture with a slightly sweet scent. My skin "drank" it in happily, but I am not sure it did anything to my fine lines.

5. 3INA Cosmetics The Oil Drops Energy. Another natural and vegan beauty treat in today's review. This is a vitamin-rich and ultra-nourishing oil with a slightly sweet scent. Perfect for the tired complexion, suitable for sensitive skin with the added ginger and cranberry oil provides an anti-aging, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory splash of moisturising protection for thirsty skin.

My skin enjoyed this energy drops and I am looking forward to trying other oils in 3INA range. Have you tried any?

6. Beauty Parier Daisy Toner.  It was a lovely treat for my skin. I have reviewed this before, please click here to read more.

The last, but definitely not least - Amore Puro Nourishing Night Cream.  This is an anti-aging cream with organic virgin olive oil, suitable for dry or normal skin.

I loved the rich cream's texture. My skin felt nourished and fresh. I agree that this night cream has a restorative effect, rejuvenating, velvet touch and it smells lovely.

Stay safe :)

Beauty Parier Daisy Toner

We all have a different way to keep ourselves afloat in unprecedented situations, so for those who like to keep up to date with the beauty world, I am sharing a Beauty Parier Daisy toner.

This super floral toner has been my skin favorite for over a week now. It is infused with real Chrysanthemums flowers and based on traditional herbal medicine. Ingredient's formula contains Chrysanthemum Morifolium flower extract and Anthemis Nobilis flower water to gently purify, tone, hydrate and soften the skin.

I like the texture and the feel of Daisy Toner on my skin. It is made with natural ingredients and has a paraben-free formula. I tend to use it every morning after washing my face and happy to share that my skin is dryness, redness, and irritation-free. Daisy toner has a very mild scent and I would probably say it is fragrance-free.

Beauty Parier is a modern and luxurious brand that utilises natural ingredients to deliver convenient, high-performance beauty products. This is my first try of any Beauty Parier products and I am looking forward to trying more.

Have you tried any of Beauty Parier beauty products? What is your first impression?

Eau Thermale Avene Hydrance Aqua-Gel

I have enjoyed this little jar through December and February month. Not my first beauty product from Avene, but definitely one of the best I have used so far. As you might know, I like multi-use beauty products to keep personal care routines simple and straightforward.

Eau Thermale Avene Hydrance Aqua-Gel is three-in-one care inspired by Asian skincare innovation, formulated in Japan and made in France. It can be used as a daily moisturiser, a night mask, and an eye cream.

Eau Thermale Avene Hydrance Aqua-Gel hydrates soothes and detoxifies the skin. I loved its fresh gel light texture. Ever since I gave birth to my firstborn, my skin changed from normal and problem-free to slightly drier and more sensitive type. This cream-gel made my skin feel refreshed, irritation, redness, and dryness free.

A definite yes from me and I will purchase it again in the future.

Have you tried Eau Thermale Avene Hydrance Aqua-Gel before or any other skincare products from the Hydrance range?

Disclaimer: Eau Thermale Avene Hydrance Aqua-Gel was purchased with my own money, so not a direct advertisement, just a personal beauty product review.

Empty bottles - L'Oreal, Dove, Nuxe, Schwarzkopf, Argan+, Rimmel and Tisserand

I have collected a fair collection of empties for review. The majority of them are budget buys and available in the pharmacy or your local toiletries shop. Today's empties varies from skincare, haircare to make-up.

My favourite of all is Nuxe Insta Masque - smoothing, fast and effective. Click here to read more. Another pleasant surprise was Argan+ Moroccan Rose Rejuvenating Micellar Water. This micellar water is made with argan oil and soothing rose otto oil. It is gentle on your skin, yet effective to remove make-up and daily impurities. My skin felt cleansed and hydrated, no irritation or adverse reaction to the eye area.

I love L'Oreal Micellar water and thought to give a go to Fine Flower Toner. This toner is so soft and gentle on the skin. My skin is usually more sensitive in the colder month and this toner provided a much needed soothing and relief. The L'Oreal Paris Laboratories have selected and combined extracts of Rose and Jasmine Flowers, in a toner for soft, comfortable and fresh skin, every day. The fresh texture invigorates the skin and eliminates the last traces of impurities, for the perfectly cleansed complexion. This toner is decent quality, has an affordable price tag and a good amount of it in the bottle. I am positive it will appear on my bathroom shelf again in the future.

Tisserand Rose and Geranium Leaf Body Wash. I have mentioned this vegan-friendly and made wit natural ingredients body wash before, click here to read more.

Schwarzkopf Gliss Hair Repair Supreme Length Shampoo. This is available in my local Poundland. Another beauty bargain for long hair. The shampoo contains Micro-Repair_Lipids and Peony Essence to remove excess oil the roots and help repair damaged hair lengths. Has refreshing and lasting scent and leaves hair lightweight and soft.

I have finally run out of two cosmetic items, both by Rimmel London. Not my first or last Rimmel Brow This Way Gel with Argan Oil. I am still for a tinted gel lookout, but this clear eyebrow gel is my foolproof alternative. It has precise tapered brush for uniform application and comfortable lightweight gel texture. Wears well all day and provides that natural brow look I like.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer occupied my cosmetic bag for few years now. I like its lightweight formula and it has a perfect shade for my skin tone. As I tend to do the minimum to my face, it helps to keep that natural look, concealing any imperfections and tiredness signs.

The last, but definitely not the least Dove exfoliating body scrub with kiwi seeds and cool aloe scent. Loved the refreshing scent and scrub texture was just right to gently remove dull, dry skin. This body scrub is formulated with 1/4 moisturising cream and left my skin silky smooth after each use.

Have you used any from above? Which one is your favourite?

December's beauty favourite

December's beauty favourite goes to Dr. Paw Paw Original Balm. I got it from one of my Birchboxes and am so happy to discover this multipurpose soothing balm. It is made in the UK and reminds me of one of my own hand made lip balms. As I don't have much time and run out of ingredients, this little tube was a savior in the last month. Dr. Paw Paw is made with fermented Pawpaw from the fruit of the Carica Papaya plant. It boasts natural healing qualities, giving this balm a multitude of hydrating uses. From moisturiser to lip balm and split end-sealer to sunburn-soother, it delivers an instant moisture boost wherever it is needed.

Ingredients: Petrolatum, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Carica Papaya Fruit Extract (Fermented Paw Paw), Potassium Sorbate

I love the texture, light scent of this balm and it is perfect for my lips and cuticle.

Have you tried Dr. Paw Paw Original Balm?

Skin and Hair care - Toddler/Boy

I am a happy mom of two boys: 6 and 2 years old and thought to share some of the toiletries they currently use. Skincare journeys vary from one to another. I had an easy ride with my firstborn, as the skincare routine was always and still is hassle-free. When he was a baby and then toddler he would have an organic/natural body/hair wash and a hand made oil mix with Lavender oil.

Now as a young boy, he is using Tisserand Rose and Geranium Leaf Body Wash. This body wash is made with a 100% natural fragrance created by pure essential oils, formulated with Aloe Vera and coconut oil extracts to leave skin soft and nourished. Tisserand Rose and Geranium Leaf body wash gently cleanses without stripping the skin, free from parabens, SLS, Cocamide DEA, and a Vegan-friendly product.

My older son's scalp tends to be dry in the winter, so he is using a sensitive hair wash. At the moment we have Childs Farm Organic Fig Shampoo. It has a delicious fig aroma my boy really loves and what is great this shampoo is made with naturally derived ingredients and organic fig extract to cleans and detangle all hair types. I love the resulting luscious locks, moisturised scalp, and gorgeous scent. I use natural coconut oil as a treatment prior to hair wash a night before and a drop of coconut oil as a conditioner and/or hair styler when needed.

Along with coconut oil for the body, he is using Cetraben Cream. We tried it first with my younger son, but his skin didn't like it so it kind of was passed on to be used. Not I believe this is our third bottle of the cream. It is fragrance, SLS and Paraben free has moisturising and protective formula which is perfect for this time of the year.

Now my 2-year-old skincare journey wasn't as straight forward, as he was diagnosed with eczema at 6 months. It was a severe case, eczema covered all his body and it took us several months to clear it completely off. I went through various natural creams and oils, tried some hand made recipes and he was slightly better with natural coconut oil and shea butter, but only slightly. Finally, I tried La Roche Posay Lipikar Baume AP+, it made all the difference needed, relieve and reprieve from the worry we had for so many months. Now more than a year later, we still using this cream once a day after the bath. His body skin is clear and soft only occasional flare-ups on his face. La Roche Posay Lipikar Baume AP+ is soothing and provides itch protection and skin hydration. The cream is enriched with Glycerine, Shea Butter, Niacinamide and La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water.

For body wash, he is using La Roche-Posay Lipika Syndet AP+. This body wash gently cleanses dry skin while avoiding damage to the skin barrier; immediately locks moisture into the skin and protects against the drying effects of water. My son's skin is soft and happy after the use, without any redness or itchiness. I use it to wash his hair too without any complaints.

What are your little ones using to keep their skin and hair soft? Have you ever struggled with skin conditions and what was your best solution?
